Denise Lawler

Denise Lawler (nee Abbott) was born in 1944 and moved to Dapto at the age of 11 from the Northern Suburbs of the Illawarra. Her family built a home in Unara Road, Dapto and Denise has happy memories of growing up here, dodging plover birds and riding the tractor to the milk factory in Station Street.

Denise was active in the Catholic Youth Organisation in Dapto where she met her husband and talks about the separatism of Catholics and non-Catholics of the time. She also recalls many outings including escapades to the Marshall Mount dances and the Bernadero and Pioneer Hall dances in Wollongong.
