Mavis Doreen Stevenson was born in Corrimal on May 29, 1921 and was brought to the ‘Moorland’ dairy farm in Avondale while only 3 months old. She recalls her childhood in rural Avondale and years in the one room Avondale Public School. In her younger years Mavis was a keen horse woman and life long member of the Dapto CWA, giving her legendary status in the area.
