Neil & Tera Wheway

Tera (nee Hendriksen) Wheway was born in 1943 and came to Australia from Holland with her family in 1950. They settled in Dapto and Tera remembers the early years of adjusting to her new home. Learning English and fitting in at school are some of her earliest memories. She also recalls enjoying sport such as vigoro and hockey.

Neil Wheway arrived in Australia from England in 1960. A teenager, Neil lived with his family in Albion Park and worked at Wongawilli. He remembers many escapades on his Vespa motor scooter and meeting Tera during her time working at Albion Park Library.

Neil and Tera were married in 1965 and in this interview recall Dapto in the 50s and 60s, and their dating days and early married life.
