Rex Swan was born in South Hurstville in 1936 and Kathleen Clark was born in Wollongong in 1937. They met as young teenagers in Dapto and have been married for 58 years. Rex’s family operated a local milk run for 40 years and Kathleen grew up in Wongawilli where her father was a hostler for the Wongawilli Mine.
Together, Rex and Kathleen recall life in Dapto and Wongawilli and their courting days when Rex worked at Fairley’s and Kathleen at the local newsagency. They had weekly reservations at the Regal picture show and went for regular drives and picnics. In this interview they share their memories of life in the Dapto/Wongawilli area.
