Joy Friend

Joy Friend went camping with her parents at Bonnie Vale from 1945 before her father, Bob Manners, built a shack bringing materials over by ferry. She remembers concerts, fishing, row boats and feeling as though the community was an extended family. There was no electricity or running water. Later in the 1970s, she brought her own children to Bonnie Vale and her father built a house in Bundeena to live in the area. She is sad to see the shacks go as NPWS have demolished them as leases expire.
