Les Edwards’ family came to stay at Simpson’s Hotel in the 1940s and his parents bought a tent onsite at Bonnie Vale, which his father built into a hut. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and hiking with other children there. His family hut remains as his father built it, complete with a kerosene fridge. He fondly remembers community activities – movies, dances, New Year’s Eve, and Cracker Night bonfires.
