The Waves, Thirroul Project was produced in 2013 when memories, photographs, family trees, and memorabilia relating to reunions were collected and archived as a manuscript (MSS 1441) in Wollongong City Libraries’ Local Studies Collection. Twenty-one houses in what was originally called Wave Street, now The Waves, were occupied by families who had transferred from Sydney, Goulburn, and other railway depots in 1939 to work with the steam trains at Thirroul.
