Interviewees hold copyright, or intellectual rights, on their interviews under Australian copyright law.

The Illawarra Stories webpage allows access and sharing of the interviews and their accompanying materials at varying levels. To check the level, read the copyright statement on each individual interview page.

1. Many of the interviews are held under the terms of:

This means that the public may share the interviews with appropriate credit for non-commercial purposes without modification.

2. For all interviews without this copyright statement, Wollongong City Libraries has the right to

  • Hold the recordings in their collection
  • Provide online access to the recording/s or parts of the recordings in a digital format via their catalogue and/or website.

You may download these recordings for your personal or non-commercial use. Anyone wanting to edit, reproduce, publish (print or online), broadcast, transmit, perform or adapt the interview must get written permission from the interviewee first.
