Joan Polonis (nee Drew) was born in Cairns, Queensland in 1935. She moved to Dapto in 1959 with her husband and they raised their young family in Cambridge Road. Joan speaks about her children’s beloved Fairy Ring and the competitive building of bonfires on Cracker Night.
Joan worked at the local Doctor’s Surgery in Dapto on and off for twenty years and remembers the professional commitment of the team and joining with the local community to raise the funds for the construction of Dapto Pool.
