Peter and May Sharman had happy and free childhoods and attended local schools in Austinmer and Coledale respectively. They settled in the area after marrying and worked locally. Peter was employed in The Outlook’s rehabilitation program and assisted people in learning skills and transitioning into community life. They were later caretakers for the building and worked to maintain and restore it. The Outlook has been a guesthouse, rehabilitation facility, artists retreat and rental accommodation.
