Helen Scaife

Helen Scaife’s family has been staying at their shack since her father Frank (known as Skeeta) built it. She remembers musical evenings with the piano, squeezebox  and mouth organ, and dances and movies. She has memories of many people who stayed and some elderly people who lived there. Resident NPWS rangers used to collect $1 rents on Sundays and enjoy a beer at the shacks. Helen’s brother Frank called Bonnie Vale ‘Happy Valley’ and asked that his ashes be scattered there after he died in 2000.
