Jack Hyland came to the Illawarra with his family as a “ten pound Pom” in 1964. He attended the Christian Brothers School, was a Scout, Army Cadet, and worked hard in a number of part-time jobs. This interview covers the years before he attended Wollongong Teachers’ College and taught at Koonawarra and Keiraville Primary schools and Keira High School.
